Casual-T Campaign on the March in Latin America

Over 100 representatives of 11 Uruguayan unions (including unions from Coca-Cola, Nestl� and Unilever) and the Latin American regional secretariat held a rally on June 25 at Unilever headquarters in Montevideo in solidarity with the struggle against disposable jobs and for permanent employment at Unilever's Khanewal, Pakistan Lipton factory. Management refused to receive a delegation, but a letter was nevertheless delivered expressing the Uruguayan unions' support for the Khanewal workers.

The IUF Latin American secretariat is also building support for the Casual-T campaign among rural workers in Uruguay, where a June 22 meeting (below) of rural workers' unions in the south of the country sent a joint message to Unilever in support of the Khanewal workers ..



and in Chile, where on June 26 the National Federation of Trade Unions of Unilever Chile (FENASIUN) pledged its support for the Khanewal struggle.
