IUF affiliates in Hungary, Turkey and Spain went into action last week in a strong show of support for the campaign by the T&G section of the UK Unite for equal treatment for agency workers supplying meat to Marks & Spencer.

In Istanbul, members of Tekgida-Is leafleted M&S outlets on March 13, talking as well with store managers to explain the issues. The following day i Budapest, the meatworkers' union kicked off its executive meeting by first picketing outside the flagship M&S store in the central city's upscale shopping street, where it also held discussions with management.

On the same day, members of Spain's Comisiones Obreras Federation (CC. OO.) picketed the most centrally located M&S store in Las Palmas (Canary Islands) carrying union flags, leafleting customers and informing the public of the issues raised by T&G/UNITE.

More actions are planned this week at M&S locations around the world.
