A first round victory has been won in the international campaign for justice for murdered Guatemalan dockworkers leader Pedro Zamora. The nine sacked workers whose reinstatement he was fighting for at the time of his murder are now back on the job in the port of Quetzal.

The IUF's Guatemalan affiliate FESTRAS took part in the international investigative and fact-finding mission to Guatemala organized from January 28 to February 3, whose participants have expressed serious concerns about the authorities' handling of the murder investigation. The growing security risks to trade union militants highlighted by the delegation received grisly confirmation on February 6 when two members of the Frente Nacional de Vendedores de Guatemala were assassinated.
