Guatemala Pepsi Workers Accept Improved Severance Pay

Twenty two months after launching their public protest against their unjustified dismissals by the Pepsi franchise in Guatemala City, 21 workers decided to end their struggle by accepting an enhanced severance package. Their vigorous protest activities in Guatemala City, supported by an IUF international solidarity campaign, led to negotiations mediated by the government of Guatemala that resulted in winning the payment of an additional 160% of their annual wage over the statutory requirement.

The workers express their thanks to the IUF-affiliated FESTRAS and to all those who sent protest messages to PepsiCo and the Guatemalan government.
